77 Words

They say that the number 7, biblically, represents spiritual perfection:

- Pharaoh's dream (which led to Joseph's rise to power) had 7 fat cattle and 7 starved cattle
- The lampstand in the Temple had 7 branches (as seen today in the Menorah)
- There are 7 weeks between Passover and Pentecost
- The Israelites were to give the land itself a rest every 7th year
- The Israelites marched around
Jericho for 7 days before its fall, when 7 priests blew 7 trumpets 7 times
- There are 7 recorded statements of Jesus while He was on the cross
- Coincidently or not,
Jerusalem is 777 meters above sea level
- The 7 churches, with their 7 spirits, in Revelation
- The 7 stars,
7 Seals, 7 trumpets, 7 candlesticks, 7 vials of end-time prophecy

Furthermore, there are 7 days in a week, 7 colors in the spectrum, 7 of the 10 commandments begin with the word "not", 7 parables in Matthew. (The list goes on but I think I've made my point.) When Jesus said "forgive 7 x 77 times", they say He didn't actually ask us to forgive 539 times; rather, 7 x 77 according to scriptural scholars, represents infinity.

I got an email yesterday from Her Hotness, Delia Gallagher; there were 77 words in it:

Hi GS,
Thanks very much for your kind e-mail and your support - I don't read the blog myself but others have forwarded excerpts to me that I have found very clever - you are a talented writer -I just wish I was not the topic of the conversation! I wish you well in your work (what is your work? - are you a writer?) and I thank you for your interest in mine.
Yours,
Delia Gallagher

This one I am not going to analyze, I am not going to deconstruct, I am not going to philosophize on. This one I am just going to share with all of you (with permission to reprint, of course!) knowing that Delia might cringe at the attention but she does appreciate our support. This one I am just going to savor as one of those simple things that can make you grin all day long and you don't even know why and you think it might have had something to do with Tom Delay being indicted or your GF coming over for the weekend and then you just have to admit to yourself that 77 simple and kind words can make your day a little brighter.

Oh, who am I kidding - I was (bleeping) ECSTATIC! Thanks Delia!

Added: And my GF reminded me (the math person!) that 7 is a prime number, and 77 is the sum product of 2 prime numbers, 7 and 11!!! GEEZ, Shepherd, how could you forget that???

I just wish I was not the topic of the conversation!

I stand by my conviction. *creeped out*

Geez, you even had to run this through word count?

I'm so happy for you! Hopefully, someone forwards to HH the bits about her recent "Farrah" makeover, which I still don't like.

Vic -

Any humble person would not want to be the topic of conversation. If any, it just proves to me that Delia is not only a nice person (for emailing me back), she's also self-effacing.

I also stand by my conviction: I'd be more relieved if I knew for certain that her mother doesn't read the blog. Plus after 6 months, I would imagine that she knows by now that I am really harmless.

And yes, I ran it through word count. No actually, I counted it manually 7 x 77 times, just to make sure.

Thanks for writing in.

Congrats on the response from HH. I am on the fence about the "creeped out" thing. Given the statements I have made about her former co-worker, I would have to assume he would be a little "creeped out" knowing that there is someone out there who speculates about him. The difference is that I know it is a harmless crush...a hobby of sorts...and I assumne he ignores it. But, if the tables were turned, would I "ignore" it? I dunno. At any rate, congrats.

Bobby,
You know my crush is innocent and harmless. I hope Delia knows it too. If she was "creeped out", I hope she's gotten over that by now.

"and 77 is the sum of 2 prime numbers, 7 and 11"

Um dear, that would be the product of 7 and 11, not the sum.

-Your Oh So Smart GF, who puts up with your HH crush :)

Oh yeah - I think in formulas, remember? Sum, product, whatever. I know I would still come up with "77"!
