FAV™ Has Signed Off

Why am I not surprised? Delia's bio is gone from the CNN website. CNN didn't renew her contract... Or maybe she's had enough of the bullshit and walked away... maybe she's got a better gig... What else is there to say? And I DO feel sad... yes I do, and that, I am surprised about.

I'm not going to launch into a full retrospective of Delia's 2 uneventful CNN years; Shep would have done that, not I. But I'm surprised that I'm feeling sad and pensive about her departure.

Despite my grim prognostications, I always wished Delia the best. By giving her the FAV™ designation, CNN doomed her gig from the very start. Why box someone into that category? It's almost cruel the way CNN used her, lulled her away from her elements, stuck her in a big city, gave her some paltry assignments, then - experiment over, time to drop her. It's almost cruel the way Tom Foreman - that arrogant prick - and the rest of Anderson Cooper's possey would devote whole shows to Faith and Religion and totally leave Delia out of the lineup.

It was a tightly-knit club, and Delia was the outsider. They never did let her in; they kept her in the fringes. While you would think that a company like CNN would have developed its talents - especially one as raw as Delia - mentor them, nourish them, equip them, enable them - CNN threw her into the wolves. "Here, take this FAV™ job and come up with your own job description." That is so not fair. Unfortunately, that is the way of the world. That's what big corporations do.

Delia will be fine - she's a good and talented person. Maybe she's back in Rome, riding her Vespa around, having pizza and wine at the corner trattoria, engaging the Roman Curia in a game of pool. Maybe she is back home, wherever that may be. Delia was never meant for the 24/7 Cable News environment; there's something almost naive about her that bastards like Tom Foreman could smell a mile away and pounce upon.

So, thank you, Delia, for 2 trying years. We've kept the pictures, we've kept the videos. We've kept the faith, we'll keep the memories.

Ciao, bella. Dio la benedice. La fortuna buona, finché incontriamo ancora.

Faith and values on cnn? lol That is funny, Its like Ted Nugent doing a bird watching show ... with no weapons.
Perhaps she just wasn't that interesting, the subject matter is in decline, especially with the "probable demographic " that are still watching (a small and exclusive group that is). Only msnbc has lower ratings cnn, she can only go up from there, even some local weather gig would be better than that. She should try the"Weather" channel , she would fit right in their, they have an entire array of semi-odd looking talent like her.
I read your blog... frankly I'm a bit concerned for your mental well being. You should try taking a deep breath and slowly back away from the computer (and the TV) go outside , walk around some, look at the sky. Then try and get your bearings, apply some sunscreen (as it has probably been quite some time since you were outside ((just going by your blog)) ) and go find your village, the miss you terribly. Good luck
