Outsourced!
It seems that, like everything else, Faith and Values™ have been outsourced to India. Or at least, that's where the FAV™ Correspondent has been.Last week, CNN held some sort of a religion week: first, the Christiane Amanpour and her God's Warrior series. Then, Roland Martin had his own special about sex, greed, and faith, or something like that; there was John Allen talking about Mother Teresa's letters, and another guy with charts and religious numbers: "The world's total population is at 6.6 billion. According to the "World Book" put out by the CIA. Thirty-three percent -- one third of humanity -- identifies as Christian. That's well over two billion people. The Muslim population is second biggest, at more than a billion. Then Hindus, at about 900 million; Buddhists at about 400 million; Sikhs at about 26 million; and Jews at about 15 million. This chart shows how big a chunk of the world's population each of those groups takes up. About 13 percent of people follow other religions, 2 percent are atheists and 12 percent are not affiliated with any group." Filed it under totally useless information.

I guess FAV™ stories are no longer viable locally, so Delia had to go to India to find them. I could understand if someone like Christiane Amanpour wanted to do a series on equal-opportunity religious crazies - she outranks Delia by several light years so she gets to do whatever the heck she wants. But Roland Martin? Or religion chart guy? Now if Delia has been in India to cover the the 10th anniversary of Mother Teresa's death - I can understand that too. But if Delia, on her own volition, went to India to file the above stories and maybe some more, that just wasn't a very good move and this whole Jon Klein FAV™ gig experiment could very well end soon. (Then Fox can scoop her up!)
Her recent choice of Indian topics and packages simply baffle me as a waste of good film and good crew. Or is Delia soon to be permanently based in India, especially since CNN doesn't have a full-time blonde correspondent in the world's 2nd largest country? Will this visit to India change Delia forever? I have a friend who got dumped after the GF spent 3 months in Bombay... the GF wanted to soul search and the friend tried to do the same but just wasn't deep enough. So to Delia's significant other - watch out, you might get your ass dumped too. Or maybe not - maybe she's not that kind of deep. (Notice her progressively bigger blings!)
Now, the Vatican Airline news - that's a Delia story!

I think those of us who watched the death and devastation of the monsoon that struck India found Gallagher's reporting quite good. This blogger may want to crawl out from his dark basement and realize the world is a big place with good people who care.
What a laughable hit piece. Is this a high school gossip forum from some uninformed wannabe insider? Chew on some facts: 1. Delia Gallagher is a respected international journalist, papal insider and News Group asset. Why? She knows the Pope. She was friends with Cardinal Ratzinger before he was Pope. 2. Her experiences for a female American journalist covering the Vatican are unmatched. She was one of two journalists in the world to visit John Paul II in the hospital in his final days and had a permanent seat on the papal airplane. 3. Her Oxford University graduate school education speaks for itself. 4. Faith and values is hardly an experiment it was cited as the reason for Bush's election.
5. Delia speaks and reads five to six languages and expert on World Religion the source of war today. 6. She is represented by powerhouse New York agency NS Bienstock. I'm sure the NS Bienstock firm does not need advice from this website. In conclusion, better luck firing cheap shots in the future.
Nothing better than to rile a Republican in the morning...

Charles, nice to see you! I see that you're still reading the blog. How are those property values in San Diego, by the way? Business is still good?
Delia is The Faith And Values Correspondent, not some Indian monsoon reporter. If she wants to be the latter, then that's another story. And my basement is quite cozy, thanks. Although it does get flooded sometimes... maybe Delia can do a story on it?,

Oh, Charles P. Gallagher - GIVE IT A REST! Those talking points aren't even amusing anymore. Your sister is not very good and you (and CNN) know it! CNN didn't even promote this "Live From India... it's FAV!" series.
And now that German Shepherd I is gone (+RIP), how about I just call it as it is, eh?
Apropos that Delia started around Katrina time - like the Bush Administration, she has done absolutely nothing.
Maybe Bienstock should start calling Fox now...
