Harriett Miers & The Half-Brained Prince

Image hosted by Photobucket.comActually, I still don't know why there is such a big cry over Aunt Harriett's nomination. By all accounts she is a good lawyer, and isn't that what's important? She's kept the Half-Brained Prince out of jail, hasn't she? That takes a lot of legal acumen! Besides, if Clarence Thomas was confirmed, why raise our standards now?

But as Her Hotness, Delia Gallagher so rightly pointed out, there is no judicial record to speak of, so let's look at Aunt Harriett's religious background. What the bleep? Did I miss the memo that says it's okay to look at one nominee's religious conviction but not another? It wasn't okay to question Judge Roberts' Catholicism but it's okay to tout Aunt Harriett's religious life? Do they really think we're that dumb?

Image hosted by Photobucket.comDoes Delia feel that somehow, because of her beat, she has unwittingly become a part of this whole propaganda blitz? On this weekend's "On the Story", Andrea Koppel's parting words to Her Hotness were very interesting: "Well, we hope that your new immersion in the reporting world of New York isn't going to send you back to the Vatican, Delia."

Maybe it was the clips of the Vatican vs. the Born Agains folks of Texas which prompted Andrea to empathize with Delia. From the hallowed halls of St. Peter's to the donut-laden front steps of Valley Baptist Church... Or maybe Andrea was talking about the cutthroat world of NY journalism, where everyone lives to get the next scoop. I don't know, but whatever she meant, Delia is much tougher than that. Heck, if Her Hotness survived the white, male dominated Vatican Press Corps and distinguished herself in the process, she would do just fine in New York.

Plus Delia is so much cuter than you, Andrea. So there.

I could only wish that the next GWB nominee to whatever would be a Catholic Priest. How about one of my old college professors to Alan Greenspan's post, huh? Can you imagine how much Delia we will get?

Another classic entry especially to those who realize the truth that he is in fact a Half-Brained Prince. I'll rest better knowing that Aunt Harriett served donuts at church every Sunday. Given that this is a LIFETIME appointment, she's gonna be schlepping donuts for the Court for a long, long time. If I ever become President, I'll give you any position you want, okay GS? Just pick one!
Just had to rant a little...

I was wondering the same thing. Why are we bringing a person's faith into the qualifications for being a Supreme Court judge? It seems the lines between church and state are beginning to become one thanks to this president. C'mon. Leave the religious aspects out of it.

Yes, I know Miers doesn't have a judicial record, but her faith shouldn't play a part in her role as a judge. A judge's job is to interpret the Constitution, not use their views to mold the law.

And yeah, Delia did a great job on On The Story.

Hey anonymous - My sentiments exactly. Apparantly the Bush admin doesn't give a Bible thump about the separation of Church and State.
