Oh, Benny!

Yesterday, Pope B16, condemned gay marriages as anarchic "pseudo-matrimony". Huh?

First of all, I put "anarchic pseudo matrimony" in the same category as "dictatorship of relativism" - they both sound very profound and ominous, but c'mon, who knows what the hell they really mean? Maybe Delia and her Vatican colleagues do - but I bet that if Jay Leno did one of those Jaywalking man-in-the-street segments , 9 out of 10 Americans would come up with something totally bizarre.

In the same sermon, His Popefulness also stated that "matrimony was not just a "casual sociological construction" that changed in certain times in history but rather an institution that had its roots in the most profound essence of the human being." Oh, really?

Let's objectively look (i.e., bereft of any theological analysis) at some historical norms of marriage and family:

- Abraham and some other Old Testament dudes practiced polygamy
- In-vitro fertilization, sort of, also known as The Annunciation
- Arranged marriages - a lot of Asian cultures still practice this
- Incest

I don't know about you, but given what I know from the past, I don't want to declare any truth as absolute right now. Isn't it a little arrogant of us mortals to think that we can with confidence interpret the Truth of God? What if we finally conclude - with scientific certainty - that homosexuality is really genetic - are we going to blame the genes or are we going to accept that God's ways are more mysterious than our little brains can ever fathom? I would not dare think for a second that God needs me to condemn anyone and render judgment on my fellow human beings on His / Her behalf!

There is still SO MUCH we do not know and the universe itself will always be too large for our puny intellect. That Is an absolute truth.

Yep, that's our Delia...
