Mathematics of Writing
The way a person writes is like a mathematical signature and each word is a variable. At least, that's what I think - but then again, I also tell my friends that music is just a series of mathematical patterns, that's why I can play the piano by ear. And that's why I prefer Mozart to Wagner - Mozart's patterns are usually contained within a few octaves and the patterns are usually more recognizable. Wagner is like a graph gone awry. On acid.
Which brings me to my point: when I read Delia's writings, I do see a pattern, but it's not Wagner. Delia writings aren't circular but linear - one point segues into the next - it's news reporting. Straight and to the point (sounds like a TV promo). The writer doesn't really leave a signature, except for that detached, matter-of-fact observation.
