Ten Wishes #3

Three days before Christmas
I’m still taking a pass
From shopping and mailing
What a pain in the ass!

But I do have Wish 3
It’s not under a tree
It is rare but it’s free
In our lives it is key

I wish you good friends
You can always depend
On to give and to lend
Time and space to transcend

Making new friends is cool
Just like you’re new in school
Of yourselves make a fool
Over cute dudes you drool

When you’re older I guess
New friends are less a mess
Harder to make, unless
You reek of great success

A new friend is a treasure
In big cities they are rarer
You may find a new lover
But true friends stay longer

With the new, keep the old
When all else is all told
Old friends are like gold
To behest and behold

These last wishes are sappy
Hallmark-quality cheesy
Writing rhymes isn’t easy
Literary heresy

Hey Shepherd,
Been busy shopping and mailing and all that other fun stuff, but I just had to say nice writing and rhyming and all that fluff.
Happy Holidays!
