"I Am Responsible..."

That's Image hosted by Photobucket.comCNN's pretty catchy title for GWB's pretend act of contrition on the war in Iraq. In yet another sign that the world is coming to an end, GWB backtracked on his prior assertion that he invaded Iraq because God told him to, and instead blamed faulty intelligence: "It is true that much of the intelligence turned out to be wrong," Bush said during his fourth and final speech before Thursday's vote for Iraq's parliament. "As president I am responsible for the decision to go into Iraq. And I'm also responsible for fixing what went wrong by reforming our intelligence capabilities. And we're doing just that." If there's any form of intelligence (or lack thereof) that has to be held accountable, it's the one that lives in the WH. But that's just me.

As far as I know (but then, I don't pay a lot of attention), this is the SECOND time in his illustrious presidency that GWB took responsibility for something: the first one was the half-assed mea culpa for the pathetic federal (non) response to Katrina. Good going, George! Maybe by Christmas, you can actually find the humility to blame yourself for all the many other things that we think you ARE actually responsible for...

Like the 2,000+ soldiers who died fighting a war you now say was unintelligently conceived. Yes, those pesky kids whose funerals you never attended - not a single, wretched, funeral - they will never know another Christmas, they will never hold another hand, or drink another beer... they will never have the chance to tell you what you did wrong. Oh, and don't forget the 100,000+ Iraqis who got in the way of their own liberation... one of those blasted (pun intended!) children could have discovered the cure for cancer someday, but nope, dead, nada, gone.

While you're taking responsibility for stuff, what about the budget and trade deficits - the largest in the history of the entire universe? I know, I know, they're just numbers, except that generations from now, kids will still be paying off the debt that your administration has so efficiently racked up within short 5 years. Now that we're on a roll... yeah, those right wing Christian fundamentalist nuts? Your fault. I don't think this country has seen more division since your compatriots sent fireworks to Fort Sumter, and that was not to cheer up the Union soldiers for Easter either. And the sorry state of our school system? The increasing number of Americans living below the poverty line, the brazen aggression of corporate America, the attack on our environment? Yeah, George, all your fault...

So, say it again, George, "... I am responsible..." and this time, really, really mean it... We might actually believe you.

Herr Shepherd YOU KNOW I could not agree with you more. My favorite hobby of late is to remind all of the bufoons out there that voted for him that I didn't!! I guess I should have realized that they were all surffering from a disease. As passed along from a confidential, unnamed source:

The Center for Disease Control has issued a warning about a new virulent strain of Sexually Transmitted Disease. The disease is contracted through dangerous and high-risk behavior.
The disease is called Gonorrhea Lectim and pronounced "gonna re-elect him." Many victims contracted it in 2004, after having been screwed for the past
four years. Cognitive characteristics of individuals infected include: anti-social
personality disorders, delusions of grandeur with messianic overtones, extreme cognitive dissonance, inability to incorporate new information,
pronounced xenophobia and paranoia, inability to accept responsibility for own actions, cowardice masked by misplaced bravado, uncontrolled facial
smirking, ignorance of geography and history, tendencies towards
evangelical theocracy, categorical all-or-nothing behavior. Naturalists and epidemiologists are amazed at how this destructive disease originated only a few years ago from a bush found in Texas.
