Revelations
This is why the Fr. Barry Rule has always worked for impetuous folks like me: time always somehow clears our heads. The sheer volume of work stuff I had to do of course helped as well since I had to clear my brain of unnecessary junk files - and whether I liked it or not, Her Hotness had to be temporarily categorized as "junk" in my cerebral filing system.
These are my realities:
1. Her Hotness, Delia Gallagher, does NOT care whether this blog exists or not
2. Delia might be a "world class journalist with an impressive list of contacts" (at least, in somebody's mind) but that doesn't impress me one bit
3. My infatuation with Her Hotness is one of those totally unexplainable phenomenon that I can only attribute to a deep-seated, Freudian fear of my own knowledge and grasp of my religion
4. The number of unique hits this site got despite the lack of updates is a testament to either a sustained interest in Her Hotness, or interest in my thoughts and writings
5. Her Hotness might eventually fade from public consciousness (unless Eggs Benedict does something drastic), but this blog has taken on a life of its own

And that is also why, in my own mind, I would never ever want to even be a semi-public figure, because I would want to treat each human being as an angel in disguise and I would never ever want to have to put the people I meet (and emails I get) into distinct categories (e.g., "to junk" and "to reply to"). I would never want to wonder whether people want to be my friend because of who I am or because I was on TV.
So... I do understand Delia's detachment, really, I do. I'm sorry she has to be that way, but that's her rule. For now, the blog will live, whether Her Hotness gives a damn or not. (Although I am seriously considering changing the name to "The Delia Gallagher Reality Check Society"... )

"because I would want to treat each human being as an angel in disguise" What a beautiful sentiment. I hope we can all learn and continue to laugh together for a long time. Glad you're staying!
