Embryonic Referendum
Who would have thought that Italians vote on a Sunday? But today and Monday they do "to decide whether to loosen the restrictions on assisted fertility which cleared parliament last year." And the Italian bishops, with B16's endorsement, have waged a campaign to boycott the referendum. Why urge for a boycott? Why not just tell them to vote "No" to all the questions? I don't know Italian civic laws... maybe Her Hotness can give us a primer on this...Anyway, it seems rather nice for most of Sunday in Rome, at least according to www.weather.com, so surely, Romans would have other plans than go to their polling place. Or maybe not. Maybe CNN will cover the referendum, with a certain Vaticanologist reporting... Hhhmmm...
I'm not going to rant about this because it's late, I am tired, and still have LOTS and LOTS and LOTS of work to do... besides, I am not Italian and I wouldn't want them ranting about US referendums... the last US Presidential election was an exception... everyone had the right to rant about it! But for now, all I can say is: "You go, embryos! Just don't wear condoms when you're old enough!"
