Delia Gallagher is CNN's faith and values correspondent. A long-time Vatican analyst for CNN and a leading journalist on religious issues, Gallagher joined the network in September 2005 and is based in New York City.Drawing from her extensive experience covering the Vatican and religions around the world, Gallagher provides reports and analysis for the network on a wide range of topics involving faith, religion and values in the lives of Americans. On the day she joined CNN, Gallagher provided reports of a Catholic diocese in Louisiana helping schoolchildren displaced after Hurricane Katrina. She has contributed reports ranging from the debate over intelligent design to an inside look at the Hasidic Jewish community.
Gallagher joined CNN after more than five years of covering the Vatican as an analyst for the network and as a contributing editor for Inside the Vatican. As a member of the Vatican press corps, she traveled with Pope John Paul II to Croatia, Italy, Poland, Slovakia and Spain.
Gallagher also worked as a researcher and editor at Oxford University Press. In that capacity, she assisted with a seminal CD-ROM project on the Dead Sea scrolls.
Gallagher earned a master's degree in theology from Oxford University in England.
