Summer Re-runs

Wouldn't it be nice if the news stations take a summer break, like most major networks do, and just re-broadcast some of their best segments? We don't really need 24/7 news, we just think we do. Really, do we need to follow the Aruba story THAT closely? How many of us watch the news anyway? I know I haven't - been too busy avoiding TV altogether (in which case, I'd be royally screwed if Her Hotness, Delia Gallagher suddenly appears on CNN!) so I can enjoy the summer.

Can't the news channels just broadcast re-runs of their most watched news stories? Like normal networks do? I can think of at least 10 not-really-news-worthy news that dominated the stations during the 2004-2005 prime time news hours, all worthy of summer rerun slots. And here they are, in no particular order:

1. Terri Schiavo
2. Scott Peterson Murder Trial
3. 2004 Presidential Campaign and Election
4. Michael Jackson Trial
5. Jennifer Aniston / Brad Pitt / Angelina Jolie (a.k.a. Branjelinafer)
6. Red Sox World Champions (Yes!)
7. New England Patriots 3rd Superbowl in 4 years (Yes again!!!)
8. Anything Iraq
9. Pope John Paul II's death
10. Papal Conclave and Eggs Benedict's election

Of course I would like nothing more than a Papal Funeral / Election Marathon, preferably this Labor Day weekend. If CNN heeds my request, I promise to watch every single minute and not forward through the commercials. And after 68 posts, Delia's blog too, will go on summer re-runs, so that I, Her Hotness' humble blogger, can spend more time doing summer stuff - what exactly, I have no idea. Like a bad reality show, I'll post new stuff once in a while OR until Her Hotness makes any appearance or publishes anything (anything at all!).
