The quote is attributed to Sen. Bob Kerrey (D-NE), who uttered the now famous line a few weeks after Rick Santorum (R-PA) had been in the US Senate.

And now, Santorum has identified who's responsible for the Roman Catholic Church's pedophile scandal: Massachusetts, and its liberalism. His original remarks were made 3 years ago on a website called Catholic Online (which by the way, reprinted a lot of Her Hotness, Delia Gallagher's articles). I was originally going to write a satire, but why do so when the real thing is even painfully funnier?

Yes, Beantown - the Hub of the Universe as Oliver Wendell Holmes called it - was solely responsible for the entire sex scandal still plaguing the Catholic Church. Any logical arguments you and I may instinctively have (i.e., "But that thing didn't only happen in Boston! " Or "What has Boston got to do with this?", etc.) were all shot down by The Boob himself when interviewed yesterday: ''I was just saying that there's an attitude that is very open to sexual freedom that is more predominant" in Boston, Santorum said yesterday. Reminded that the sexual abuse occurred across the country, Santorum said that ''at the time [in 2002], there was an indication that there was more of a problem there" in Boston.

Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA) had the best retort: This is one of those people who claims to have had eye contact with a blind woman (referring to Blessed Terri Schiavo - Patron Saint of People with Half a Brain). So, yes, Boston, you are to blame! And Your Hotness, please inform Eggs Benedict ASAP that the root of this inherited problem has been identified and can now be solved by nuking Beantown.

Anyway, I would want to write more about Rick as he is always good for some totally laughable comment (and makes GW look like a genius!) but I'm still really busy at work; besides, the inherent humor that is Santorum's existence is best enjoyed serendipitously - so happy Googling.
