Things To Do Before I Die

So I've been asking myself - if I knew I was going to die soon, what are the (realistic) things I would really want to do before I go to the Great Beyond? I've been contriving a list and checking it twice and making sure they contain both naughty and nice... So here goes:

1. Build a patio in my yard
2. Buy a scooter and ride it everyday
3. Complete my State Quarters collection and give it to my nephew
4. Go to Madrid, since I am 25% Spaniard
5. Rollerblade 25 miles non stop
6. Have a casual, one-night stand with a totally hot stranger
7. Read all the books on my nightstand
8. Write that book I've been writing in my head
9. Take my dad to see Dame Kiri Te Kanawa in concert
10. Get over my fear of commitment
11. If #10 is successful - ask my GF to move in with me
12. Once again watch the 4th of July fireworks from the Cambridge side of the Charles River
13. The day after #12, get pizza at Emma's and burger at Bartley's
14. Re-learn Spanish
15. Spend Christmas in Rome
16. Spend Christmas at Home
17. At least once a week, help a total stranger
18. Go to at least 3 shows at the Edinburgh Fringe
19. Take my GF to Petrossian for dinner
20. Read the complete works of Shakespeare

The list above is very trite, really, because the truth is - and I have thought about this long and hard - there is nothing more I would want to do. Looking back, I do not regret a single thing I have (or haven't) done, not even the bad ones. I have lived life at 100 mph, and I have veged out on the couch. I have loved and obsessed and I have been angry and have been oblivious. I have laughed and cried, I have been praised and humbled. All those other things I thought would look good on my list above? They're just that: things. At the end of day, I can say that I am not afraid to die - and that what makes life so precious.

Sorry, no more Delia Gallagher for now. She didn't make it to the list (unless she happens to be #6).

See...this is why you are a much better person than me. My list would have more naughty things. *blush* I am not afraid of leaving this life either, but I take it for granted sometimes and make a fuss over stupid stuff. Thanks for reminding me of how precious time is. Oh ~ one last thing for my list would be each day remember how much I adore my friends of both the real life and cyber variety. Oh ~ one more! I want to shag Delia's buddy in Rome.
