4 Weeks and Counting...

Yes, that's how long Delia has been gone from our collective TV worlds. If she has been on vacation, that's a pretty sweet deal she's got going: travel to Rome and Poland (on expense account, I assume), put together a 2-hour documentary, then take the rest of the month off. Sweet.

In the meantime, the world of FAV has been registering lots of activities without its appointed spokesperson, its stalwart, its envoy to the mortal world: the Toledo priest - nun murder trial and verdict, polygamy considering that it's only practiced by a certain sect within a certain religion (but not to worry, Anderson was already Polygamy Central last week,) Cardinal Mahoney and illegal immigration, Dobson, et.al. and GOP lover's quarrel, the Da Vinci Code and its many package-worthy subplots: albinos (covered by Jeanne Moos), Opus Dei (covered by Delia's buddy John Allen), countless Catholic preemptive strikes (covered by that other Vinci)...

What I'm trying to say is that the world of FAV news is there for the taking, and Delia has been AWOL. Am I disappointed? Nah, not really - maybe close to indifference - which is considerably less painful than disillusionment and a perfectly normal survival tool. But what is another 4 weeks compared to the 4 months last year that we spent without a single Delia sighting, eh? Maybe she'll show up sometime this week, maybe she won't. Maybe Delia has some personal stuff to take care of, who knows?

And I won't be surprised if she comes back with a rock on her finger...
