That #?$@! Runaway Bride

They say sleep is a really good way to get rid of a cold... and so that's what I did. Of course in between I still had to do tasks befitting of a barely-functioning human being. Like shower, eat, and watch news.

Anyway, stories like these were what made me NOT want to watch the news in the first place. How does someone's indecision and selfish escapade affect me again? If she just had cold feet, she should just have said it in the first place. But to do it in the wake of all the little girls killed by crazy guys - that was just plain wrong on this wacko bride's part. She played into the collective hysteria engendered by news people in the first place, and made us care. Made us CARE!!!???!

And then she comes out to say that the marriage is still on. Give me a fucking break!

C'mon, dude, if your fiancee would rather involve the whole country in telling you she's just not that into you, take the hint. Walk away, NOW. No, run the opposite direction, as fast as you can. She subjected you to criminal investigation, extremely emotional maelstrom, lie detector tests, not to mention having to hire a lawyer... This is NOT exactly the way you would want to start your matrimonial odyssey.

And why, oh why, did CNN (and I bet all the other news talking heads) have to entertain this story any more than what they've already given to it? We know, we know, she got scared and called 911 to fake her own abduction, now let's move on.

There are real news out there: Iraq, the quantillion trillion deficit, out-of-control oil prices, Bush and everything that he tries to do, DeLay - don't forget Tom Delay (and why is this bastard still in office?), inflation... real news, folks. Real news that affect all of us.

And the Vatican, and the Pope, and Rome, and...

C'mon, CNN people, that's important too. You just cannot deluge us with 24/7 Vatican news and then as suddenly switch to Runaway Bride Crap without any transitional segments in between.

Yeah, where's Delia Gallagher when you need her?
